Thing #14 Tags

Tags seem to be a living index created by who knows who, and also myself. Tags also can work as a type of thesarus-again, living, being created by people online--ever changing. Technorati is a keeper of online trends. It's all addictive and helpful in researching everything and anything.

Thing #13

Imagine my surprise when I went to delicious and found I was already there. I clicked on the "teacher link" and up came my niece's place for her wedding reception last spring. Don't know how I managed that, but now I had a chance to add bookmarks that went with the links.

I found many wonderful gluten free recipes, blogs about Aspergers, and blogs about Mini-Rex rabbits.

For professional uses, I can easily see how my team could share links that go with our TEKS. It would be an efficient use of time. I can imagine that our campus technical guru could have a list of tutorials. This is also a way to interact with teachers worldwide.

My home computer bookmarks are so filled, I'm grateful to find a new way to store and organize links.

Thing #12

I have been leaving comments here and there...and this time I noticed how much quicker some of our bloggers are going than I am through this course! It was fascinating to find bloggers with similar interests through Google Blogging. One person lives in the United Kingdom, and the other was a priest of some sort.
I was inspired by the fun photos of animals on one blog, and by the words that I related to on others.

Thing #11 LibraryThing

I enjoyed entering some of my books and seeing how many others have the same. It made me curious about the strangers who share some books. Many of my books are uniquely collected, it seems.
I signed up to become a reviewer if chosen.
I'm not sure how I could use this in the classroom with my 2nd graders. I think when I wish to discuss a professional book Library Thing would be handy, or to discuss how to use a book to motivate young learners.

RSS-Thing #9

My brain hurts from exploring all the different "feeds" and options. I'm confused at how this all fits together without me spending too many hours a day looking at my blog, my iGoogle page, and my Google Reader page...in addition to all the emails and other wonderful internet stuff. I'm sure I'm supposed to link them all together...and I'll get there...good thing summer school ended yesterday!

How can this be used by the library? Cover topics addressed during weekly class visits to the library in more depth. Add student comments any news updates.

How can this be used in my class? Look for blogs and news feeds that pertain to the TEKS I'm covering.

iGoogle helps with weather study!

http://www.google.com/ig
Last year 2nd grade added the cycle of the moon to our study of weather. Using iGoogle tools, I can provide wonderful resources for weather study.
