Tool 2

I enjoyed reading 5 blogs--2 from my Westwood colleagues, 1 from Sherwood, Hollister and Tiger Trail. We have contrasting and creative expressions going on.

I hadn't thought in terms of the video, that we must MODEL and model again, proper behavior online. I use many networks to help me with teaching ideas. When I started in the district, no mentors were available. It didn't matter, because my mentors were online! Wonderful, experienced teachers shared knowledge and resources with me. There was no way to pay them back, but pay it forward.

One teacher in an online group shares ideas and personally made lessons more than any other member. She encountered some problems with aging relatives, and an expensive subscription to clipart used in her creations. We all pitched in to diminish the costs of sharing with us.

I hope everyone can experience the comradarie of communities online.

Tool #1

I first posted the Voki as a regular post...then noticed the directions to add a gadget. I am getting quicker at editing!

Thing #23!

Please give specific answers for each question.
What were your favorite discoveries or exercises on this learning journey?
I love iGoogle and keep adding to it. I also loved learning more about delicious, Flickr, and Photostory.
How has this program assisted or affected your lifelong learning goals?
I have an artsy side and this gives me more creative outlets.
Were there any take-a-ways or unexpected outcomes from this program that surprised you?
I found ways to make my life easier and more fun.
What could we do differently to improve upon this program’s format or concept?
It really needs to have new windows opened instead of closing the window and opening a new one, leaving our instructions absent. I tried to remember to open a new internet page, but usually I forgot, and spent much time finding the original page.
Also, the podcasting took a lot of time with no publishing success. I needed more ideas because even with changes in audio and registration to Switchpod, it didn't upload.
If we offered another discovery program like this in the future, would you choose to participate?
Absolutely.
How would you describe your learning experience in ONE WORD or in ONE SENTENCE, so we could use your words to promote 23 Things learning activities?
Powerful
Now go and comment on some of the other Players' blogs?

Thing #22 Nings

The librarian Nings looked like they were for...librarians. The teacher Ning had some interesting blogs--I read one who is using FLY lady techniques. Brings back memories.
I searched for lesson plans and found there weren't many. The blogs are categorized by specific job duties, which helps connect with those that I have more in common. I might use it if I had questions for other teachers or if I was stumped for ideas.
